I’m looking round for new helmet and boots, probably an Arai helmet and sidi boots, like I always get, unless you can suggest different

I'm an Arai fan but yea they can be expensive lids.

Not a fan of the Sidi boots as I found them quite narrow at the toe box.

Is it for the track or the road?

Well I was always told you always get the best helmet you can afford.

Which is anything with an ACU gold sticker. I love KBC helmets. Not the lightest but the fit for my head is superb. I've had about 4 of them.

My offroad helmet is a Fox.

I bought a pair of the alpinstar supertech boots a couple of years ago second hand for £80 from ebay.

Sent them back to alpinestars through demontweeks to be refurbished. Cost me £85 and they came back with new soles, sliders and the one of the hinges on the internal boot was replaced.

Love those boots.

I got myself an arai rx-7v ghost with £300 of list and had it custom fitted.

An ACU sticker doesn’t mean they are the best helmet, just means they are approved for racing. Best helmet I ever had was a Simpson Bandit. Which was not road legal and can’t remember if it had a gold sticker. I’m just on the sharp crash helmet safety scheme website seeing what helmets came out best in their tests

Do think Simpson helmets were acu approved. They passed dot and fia regs for use in motor vehicles but not motorcycles.

The new ones may be acu approved.

It was the original Simpson drag helmets with the filters on the front that looked evil.

You will have to go and try them on really. Helmet manufactures use slightly different shells so will fit slightly different even if they are the same size. I have had Shoei and AVG helmets so far. AVG have both been K3's, current one being the Guy Martin SV, cos you know neon pink :D.

Sidi boots are supposed be very good. My current ones are TCX s-speeds. Which are excellent.. except for the god aweful squeak they make when walking in them!! I was at KTM in Hemel and one of the guys heard the squeaking and asked if they where sidi. So i guess they do the same! Must be something to do with being french lol

. Hard to say, as my dad said if you have a £5 head buy a £5 helmet. But needs a gold acu sticker. I went back to my AGV after wrecking my arai helmet crashing at cadwell, and not impressed with AGV after the arai

I always was told spend as much as you can afford and dont try and skimp. Seeing what a 30 ish mph off did to my Shoei and i still managed to crack a tooth confirms that for me. As I said I have a AVG K3 SV which I think I bought on offer for about £280. Only issue i have with it is the paint is a bit thin and it fogs up easily. But tbf I dont use a pin lock so that's probably my fault.

Always wanted to go Cadwell the jump looks rather fun but I'm not Josh Brookes lol. I heard the track days go the opposite way anyway though is that true?

I tend to get kit of the shows like the BMF in Peterborough, you can get helmets in last year's colour for about a quarter of the price, a few years ago I got a £180 agv lid for £30

Went back to j and s today. Bought another Arai acxes the same as I had before. Down to £269 from £399. This model is being replaced by the Arai debut, but only difference I could see was a pinlock. Big thanks to j and s for throwing in a free black visor because I have a race licence.

I also have the blue/pink Guy Martin helmet. The design was for when he rode the Britten race bike

You won't go wrong with Arai Helmet, although Shoei gets quite close if you are on a budget

had the same Arai helmet last year, although throwing bike and myself down the track at cadwell ruined the helmet.

I bought a dainese laguna seca 4 suit last year and a pair of axial d1 IN boots. Best boots I've ever owned. Look and feel so much better and comfortable. I'll never go back to boots that are worn outside my leathers. Same with my arai rx7-v, once I wore that. I'll never buy another non arai helmet.

Yeah I think people get used to certain pieces of kit I bought last year was the ixon airbag vest as I don’t really get on with back protectors and think they restrict movement. Anyway if the vest goes off then it self deflates, you then just screw another gas canister in
