More to do with the salt more than the cold. There's some lovely sunny days, like today, but salt just eats the bikes.

A box at end of your bed

Mine are still legal for use on the road but are parked up for winter now. Maybe just maybe if we get a good day or two I will take it out for a run.

Carb overhaul this winter after 30years of service think it's overdew.

There are some lovely sunny days, but like I said the salt just eats the bikes, had mine from new and still as nice as the day they came out the box. Not a fan of stripping stuff down for all the maintenance after winter riding either. Roll on spring

On mine all year round. I find a good coating of ACF50 twice a year keeps the bike protected from the salt.

All year for me, though switch to a Honda 125 for the daily winter commute. ACF50 all over it for the salt and heated grip for my fingers.

More to do with the salt more than the cold. There's some lovely sunny days, like today, but salt just eats the bikes. "

No salt used around these parts but tonnes of dead leaves, cow shit, mud, cow shit, roads that don't dry out under the trees, oh, and cow shit....

The joys of living in the countryside surrounded by farmers who don't ride bikes!

Bonus, no road tax or MOT's on bikes here so if the weather Gods do shine, then the bike can be woken from hibernation for a little jaunt (provided there's no cow shit!)

Cripes!! thanks for the heads up on that, nearly forgot to mention about the cow shit!! (joking apart, it has to be the most stubborn shit (pun intended!) to EVER get off the bottom of a bike engine once it has baked on - pretty low frictional coefficient when riding too!!)

Scorned the XJR as it is a pain to keep clean. Will be using the Transalp for winter, a nice big screen, hand guards and heated grips. It's old but still nice to ride.

I'm out on Salisbury Plain on Sunday on my Beta X Trainer. That's always fun.

Winter is depressing enough without the thought of not being able to go for a ride, even if it’s a 50-60 mile round trip to a cafe for brunch.

Maybe modern bikes are made from sugar because my old Firestorm has been ridden every winter for all the years I’ve had it with minimal cleaning except when in the mood and still comes up clean. I do want to get the brake callipers off and give the pistons a clean and lubing before they get pitted and some protective spray over electrical connections though.

My ZX9R streetfighter is in need of stripping down of swinging arm and need new fork seals but the shed is only big enough for storing and don’t fancy spannering in the wet n cold so that may have to wait a while.
