Pan European v FJR1300

Thinking of doing some touring next year - France, Germany Spain etc. What are your opinions of the Pan and the FJR?

Going back a bit, on paper, the Pan ticked all my boxes. That was until I rode one. It was slower than my 750. It is a brilliant bike, but much preferred the better acceleration of the FJR.

New 6sp FJR's are a noticeable improvement.

Both have good range and all day comfort.

Having said that, I'd probably buy a GS Adventure rather than another FJR.

Had both fjr would be my choice of them two

But outclassed by the Kawasaki gtr more power better handling and much more fun

We have The ST1300 Pan. Same here all round Europe and would say exactly the same regarding weather protection and fuel range 250 to 300 mile between fill ups. Once spoke to a Motorcycle cop after they changed from the Pans to the Yams. He said he wanted his Pan back as he could catch up with sports bikes on his Pan. I do agree about the agility. Not a lot passed me over the Mountain at TT when I set it away, obviously the sports riders who knew what they were doing would be getting passed eventually

You won't be disappointed. I was going to sell mine but after taking it for mot back in April I just can't let it go. It is just so nice to ride. Bought it brand new 2009 and it's immaculate. Never been out in any winter so when salt went down it was taken off the road till spring. I have bought a Triumph Explorer so didn't need them both. It's brilliant when we can't part with bikes
