Don't go spending a fortune on your first bike, you will come off or drop it, and then it'll cost a fortune to repair.

Pontefract

You got restricted licence or unrestricted?

Hard to give advice as bikes are very personal. I do like the Triumph street triple 675, and love the Triumph street triple 765 RS

How much have you got to spend? SV650S, ER6N, MT07, Street Triple we're what I looked at after my mod 2. Went with the SV - happy, but will upgrade to the STR after I get a year under my belt.

Best going to lots of bike shops and sitting on them, seeing how they feel... Congrats on passing though.

They all go as fast as you want them too or as hard as you twist the throttle. It's more the cost of insurance that comes into your choice as having just passed test could make it expensive.

MT07 is a good versatile bike.

Well done on passing your big bike test. Open roads ahead. Have a look in the Triumph shop as they will let you test ride what you like. Triumph Triple is a lovely bike. All depending on your budget as well. If you haven't a big budget you can't go wrong with a 600 Bandit as your first bike.

I bought a Kawasaki Z650 a month ago, lovely little machine. Lightweight, fast and a great commuter bike.

" ..... you can't go wrong with a 600 Bandit as your first bike."

Bulletproof engine, great ergonomics and reasonable for parts. There's a large after-sales, parts market too.

Something you don't mind dropping... Unfortunately, talking from personal experience here. Easy and forgiving to ride helps with initial enjoyment too

Bandit 600 are a great budget bike. Cheap to run, and repair. Lots of Facebook groups and forums for advice too..
