Seen on news last night the plans to build a new café on the site. A glass fronted building over looking the Cumbrian countryside. They are marketing the place for petrol heads and cyclists, putting events on. Maybe when it's up and running we can have our own fab event and have a social there on the bikes. Will be good to see something good rise from the ashes.

I've stopped there many times on the C2C and I can tell you it was a welcome break after pedaling an MTB fully laden up that bloody fell.

Had lots of bike meets up there too and the grub was always excellent and the views stunning.

A box at end of your bed

Used to ride that road every other weekend in my younger years not many keep up with me was my favourite road Hexham to Penrith stopping at cafe for a butty and cuppa it was always busy back then.

That's before Mr plod started hidden a speed camera in every sheep's arse along the way. There was also alot of deaths on that road back then not so good.

Lot of deaths, exactly why Mr Plod was putting the cameras up the sheeps arse. Far to many one a bees out there that can't be. Track folk just miss out here. They should advertise more for their track days. Much more exciting than having to look round every corner for a speed trap.

Thats one thing that will never change with Hartside unfortunately, the crazies will always use it as a race track. Its still the same now as it ever was, crashes and speed traps

Will admit I have not riden that road in decades also like to keep my brain in my head when riding nowadays as apposed to my back pocket as it was in those younger stupid fast days. Brain in pocket and out for the Sunday joust with 8 or more mates.

I am happy just to be out and riding now. I lost some good mates back then wish they where still with us today.

We not been on that road for a long long time. As like you, nothing to prove. Just don't want to be took out by some crazy who thinks they are better than they think they are. I used to wait till TT where I could go over the mountain and not worry about speed traps. Not a lot passed me in them days when I was younger.
