The FJ is the only real constant in my garage.

I've had it ten years and it was a right donkey when I bought it.

It cost a packet to restore but It's now very nice with subtle mods like an FZR rear wheel and Thunderace Swing arm.

It looks standard from five paces.

I've had a few FJRs all new too and the FJ will do everything they will and once set up with a decent shock, front springs and blue spot calipers are a good match for any modern sport tourer.

I test road an MT09 as I couldn't try an XSR. Engine on both (being the same) for me is brilliant. Loads of grunt through the rev range etc.. Riding position on MT09 feels and is much closer to the handle bars. I much prefer looks and riding position of the XSR

A friend had a 580 3-speed CCM in the late 70s and I still probably still rate it as the most exciting bike I've ever ridden. An original BMW R80GS comes close, though...

"Bought it for track days but not used it yet after damaging my knee at work"

The little 400’s are awesome for racing. A little bit short in the cc department for trackdays. Saying that last year I did take my little TZR250 race bike on a couple of trackdays last year and you tend to get held up in the twisties being courteous and not riding like a knob, then come tgevstraights tge big bikes are away then hold you up again in the twisties. I’m racing a Triumph Daytona this year so much better for the occasional track day

Mate has a kr1-s with rgv rear swingarm and wheel. Zxr400 front end. Rd350ypvs bottom end and a big bore 496cc top end. Did 116bhp on dyno and weighs 120kg. You thought of racing your kr1-s with blue haze? I did one round last season on my tzr250

KR1-S with RGV rear was common due to the appalling selection of 18 inch tyres available that fitted the original wheels. Supersport 400 back in the day used to allow it with a 1 second/lap handicap. My racing days are over, too much arthritis from years of punishing myself bouncing down the road, lol.

Loan me the kr1s to take out for a race

I’m racing a triumph Daytona 675 this year but miss racing the two strokes. Have done a track day this year on my Rd350ypvs hybrid and have a Honda Cr85R with supermoto wheels to get my two stroke fix

Yes theyre a doddle to do, r1 front forks & brake set up & aftermarket yokes. Aftermarket headlamp & bars, aftermarket rear shock and seat all off the shelf parts. Then paint & powdercoat, theres a good link on youtube of a k100 caferacer build
