Hi guys. I do need your advice if you could.

Currently riding DL650...thinking of changing the bike to VFR800.

1. Should i go pre vtec

2. Should i get something else?..

Style of riding...well sport touring 99% road use.

Amy advice guys?

....or maybe you would recommend some other bike?

VFR is a great bike very underestimated.

I used to have the first of the VTEC models which was pleanty capable.

Things to look out for on the VTEC is the service history up to date.

Has it been from a main dealer or independent specialist.

Valve adjustments obviously, type of oil that's been used, and the sprocket carrier and hub assembly can wear out on high milage examples.

Other than that the VFR as whole is a pretty safe bet.

Oh and the clock bulbs kept blowing on mine for some strange reason. I swapped them to LED bulbs and never had the issue again. Dash was visible from space right enough lol.

Had a E reg VFR750 a few moons ago.

Honda Blackbird an an alternative ?

D3 ZZR1100 is the daily weapon of choice.

Can't fault them. Love mine.

I got the faster D model also...

I have a vfr 800fi (pre vetec). I love it. For touring i would reckomend installing bar risers.

Look for the standard service history etc. OEM oil filter (heard of people having issues with aftermarket ones such as KandN ones.

The digital displays on the cluster can die on them. And there are issues with the rectifiers. Look for connectors that have burned out/got hot as a telltale sign.

Think they are going up in value now as well. Especially for the low mileage ones. Mines at 28k now and is considered fairly low miles for these bikes.

We currently have a wee 800 Tiger and absolutely love it.

It's not fast but it's a comfortable bike for solo or twos up riding.

My biggest regret was selling my naked 1250 Bandit last year.

It has the grunt, comfy seat and with the addition of a small screen it was a mile muncher when it came to touring. Once up in 6th you didn't need to drop gears to overtake etc, you just twisted and went.

What about higher speeds? Is there a bit wind protection?
