Just got home after a 13 hour day.

Covered around 290 miles and it got me wondering.

What's you usual time/distance for a day out?

I'd hate to say, it all depends upon what time I have on my hands and who I'm with. Today's was a nice 190 to a couple of cafes, others its been a short ride out to somewhere local.

Longest distance in one go though was to Assen in Holland about 500miles.

I've managed 2500 miles in 8 days, not keen on doing that again. It was on 43 year old bike as well with luggage and no fairing.

near you check GPS location

I did the national rally years ago. Can't remember the mileage but me and 2 friends where riding for 23 hours. The only time I've nearly fell asleep on the bike.

I'm still learning and the most I've managed has been a couple of hours each way with too many stops along the way

I think I should probably avoid scenic routes if there's to be any hope of going long distance 😂

Getting the full licence is bound to help but any tips in the meantime?

Im assuming you are on a 125? You will find a world of difference on a big bike! Youll have less fatigue, the bike will feel planted and if you get a comfortable model with a fairing you will be able to manage miles. Learner bikes have their place, but once you get a nice big bike you will understand that they are horrid things for long distance!

And as for advice, I'd say just plan your trips with breaks every hour or so to give your behind a break. And dont skip the senic routes! Ypu have the perfect transport to enjoy them. Ypu take in more on a smaller bike.

Thanks for the advice. That's actually really good to know...I do love the scenic routes so better make the most of them! Especially in this weather

Yep. Defo stick to the scenic routes

I went from Sheffield to Jedburgh on Friday then Beadnell before stopping overnight at Rothbury and home Saturday.

Didn't touch any motorway. Then again I have the bike for long distance.

Where in Scotland are you? My GF lives in The Borders...

My GF lives near there. It's where the Jim Clarke motor museum is not a very big town.

She rides and has shown me some great routes around there.

In the day, 200 miles not unusual in the UK. Personal longest single ride in a day 960 miles - South of France to Midlands, then 850 a few years later on a similar run but only to Berkshire.

Same as above really, standard day out when it’s nice is around 150-200 miles with a good coffee somewhere on route. Odd times will be a long day out covering double that, nice day trip to wales and around before heading back.

Longest I’ve done in a day would be around 980ish from Nordkapp to the Lofoten islands. That trip was around 5,600 miles in 12 days. Stunning scenery and always more to explore.
