Try all make helmets as everyone has a preference due to head shape and size I like the Shoei but my preference and I like the Alpinestars and Spidi leathers as they fit and feel comfortable on my shape. Go try them all on before you buy anything and get it from a reputable source. Ebay and crap like like that chuck it in the bin.

As regards to bikes do the same, try what you like and anything in between and also check the insurance before purchasing anything

Moto central in Hinckley give a good fitting on crash helmets, on Friday and Saturday they have an older gent there he's very good and helpful.

Bikers paradise in Coventry do decent leathers, and will make alterations if needed 👍🏼

When you try lids on leave it on for a few minutes, walk around a bit. Sometimes they fit ok then you start to find it doesn’t fit as as well as you first thought.

Actually that’s true of all bike gear.

the land of unicorns and fairytales

Turns out my eldest boy has a huge head !! Canny get a decent lid to fit him yet it doesn’t look any bigger than his bro who can just comfortably get mine on so much for them spending a bit more money and buying gear to share lol

I’ve actually had two great LS2 helmets both bsb approved less than £100 each and still great condition

I’ve also got shark skwal d2 - mid range and brilliant

Hjc rpha70 - quite expensive colour faded quickly

Ruroc atlas flash - most expensive never wear it

And my latest is my Nolan mid range perfect

Had an mt was too big and a scorpion again too big gave them away

near you check GPS location

Sounds daft but go to the shop on your bike and sit on it with gear on. Trouser legs and arms ride up, some back protectors clash with the seat. And FFS if you don't want to spend a fortune on your helmet don't try on the arai or shoei. They're to plush I'm stuck with arai cos the rest just seem cheep, but you can go for last years paint job. Plus try glasses or sun glasses with helmet if you use them.

Definitely need to get trousers that are longer in the leg than you think you'll need, nothing worse than the leg riding up and wind blowing in over the top of your boot

I’ve found that Arai tends to fit, larger headed gents

I did my A licence in September, one of the best things I ever did!

Gear wise, I have a lot of Oxford clothing. Good quality stuff and not too ridiculously priced.

Just don’t use Oxford locks and chains. They’re garbage.

Don’t buy a second hand helmet , buy a new one and one that fits comfortably
