Hi all.

I have a kawasaki Z1000sx and thinking about doing a track day next year. What do you need these days for it? Full leather I assume? Anything else?

Not sure where I would do it. I don't fancy doing Brands Hatch as I have been there in the past and fancy one of the others this time

Licence, full leathers 1 or 2 piece but zip together I think, ACU gold helmet, back protector and brake guard, quiet exhaust depending on noise limit of event you are going. And of course boots and gloves. If you are a bit nervous about being on track with a load of other " nutters" have a look at the British superbike school at blyton near Gainsborough, instructor lead school as opposed to track day. Lot more controlled and very good for confidence developing. Not done it myself but know a few who have.

I'd love to do a track day, but nearest track to me is Knockhill which is about 40 minutes away, and given that I've only had my bike (whichbis the first one I've had), I'd be a bit nervous about venturing on track, so maybe in a year I'll have more experience and confidence to try it

If you can look at Portugal or France. They do some epic track days after WSB or Moto GP. Most tracks it is zip together two piece or race suit leathers or similar textiles. Correctly rated lid and consider track day insurance. Lots of good companies do it and covers you for a fair bit!

the boss I used to work for also rums euro flat out track days, regularly sends trucks down to Portugal for track days, picks bikes up in Paisley and I'm sure there's another 2 collection point further south.

Quality truck and trailer and good drivers, never heard of any bikes being damaged in transport to or from the circuit.

@Quantitytoquality is correct in the gear.

I have been to Snetterton twice (my first and second time. Really enjoyed it. Then went to Brands Hatch.

I also have a Z1000SX.

I hired a bike from SmallBoy Track bikes https://www.smallboytrackbikes.co.uk/). They were really good and looked after me.
