Best starter bike

I am thinking of getting a bike (don't have a bike licence yet).

What would you suggest to be a good starting option 125cc obviously.

like honda cbr 125 or cbf

yamaha ymt 125

kawasaki Z125

you'll have. a lot less bother with them and any garage will be able to get spares and fix them

Older yamaha ybr or Honda cb be a good shout. 1st bike I wouldn't bother buying new. Chinese bikes have very mixed reviews. Some are ok others just a pile of shite.

How long you planning on staying on a 125? I bought a Chinese one and 6weeks later completed my mod 2 and got a big bike so the 125 was a waste of money.

Stick with any of the jap 125's as others said the Chinese ones are very hit n miss

Depends on what you fit.

I found an off road bike, fitted me best sue to being a bit tall. My mate was better suited to a Yamaha TZ125R, as the RGV125 was a bit too small for him.

I would suggest going round a few bike shops, or a biker event and asking some riders their opinion.

depends if your after sport bikes naked bikes or supermoto a good sport bike is a yamaha R125 a good naked bike is a Honda msx 125 aka a grom and a good supermoto is a yamaha wr125x i hope this helps! we are both bikers xx

Would probably be better to do cbt and straight for big bike as your old enough and won't pick up any bad habits then pick the bike you want, it will only do what you tell it to like any other bike. My first bike was my z1000sx which I still find stunning after 3 years

I agree

I went from driving a car straight to direct access. I was planning on getting a 650 initially, but went for a 800. Great bike. Very comfortable and havent regretted my choice.

The route I took meant I saved money in the long run and can go anywhere I want. I'm even considering Europe next year

Dont buy a bike yet, do cbt mod 1 mod 2, pass it and get what you want

Youll be learning on a 500 so dont believe all this shit youll read about go for a 650 and bulid up , one thing that wont build up is you bank balance ,

If want a 1000 get one ,

My first bike was a Honda xlr 125 - so much fun to ride and I sold her for more than I paid for her after two years of riding!

Kind of wish I’d kept her though. Just for the fun.

Although now I ride a buell and that is a LOT of fun haha

I've got a lexmoto RSS 125 £2k

Kind of regret the 125 decision now as it's so much fun. It keeps up with traffic but not quick enough, fine around town but would love more power so can go further.

I got the 125 to build no claims, insurance can be steep.

Mod1 = test off public road (airfield/large car park) where you demonstrate you can man handle a bike/do figure of 8/ u-turn/ emergency stop/ swerve avoidance and other bike road craft. Once you pass that you move onto.....

Mod2 = What the lucky older generation only had to do - ride on public roads under instruction demonstrating that you can handle a bike and obey highway law.

Once you pass that and you are over 24 you can ride any CC bike you choose.

If under that age, you are limited to the capacity you can ride.

Personally, I have always favoured Honda, most bikers seem to find a brand they like and stick to it.

I have owned other brands, Kawasaki and BMW, but just always more comfortable with Honda. For my two Penney worth, I would go for the Honda CB125 or latest equivalent
