After losing a massive amount of weight...my 2 sets of leathers were too big.

Got some off vinted and they fit lovely, but stink of smoke.. what's the best way to try and get the smell out?

I'm bikeless atm, so until the weather gets nicer and I'm a human back pack.. I've got time to sort it.

Thanks in advance

We would say hang them out on the washing line when the days aren't wet, so that could be a long wait the amount of rain we keep having. Just keep putting them out day after day till the smell disappears. Can't think of any other way really

Paper Town Central, Essex.

You're going to laugh, but spray with Listerine will kill the germs from sweat etc, and followed by febreez once dry.

Works a treat.

If you can get them turned inside out, frebreeze and outside airing for a few days. Then just airing for the outside.

Wash (yes wash) then recondition with something like Renapur. You may need to apply it a few times but I've done this with bike leathers

Give the inside linings a good spray with Febreeze (turned inside out as much as possible) then let them air dry.

Give the outside a good rub down with soapy warm water and again, air dry. Remember to give them a bit of love with some leather food every now and again.

WD40 on the zips doesn't do any harm either especially if they have got wet (very difficult to find anywhere to get them replaced, at least round here)

I do this with my 2piece and they're still looking good after nearly 30years so....

I use what is called Zip Lube, it's in a can just like WD40 but doesn't have the smell. Been using zip lube for years, also as someone said earlier Renapur. Use that on the leather to keep it fed. Bought a small tub of Renapur many years ago to keep boots in tip top condition then realised it's for all leather, you only use small amounts so still got quarter of a tub left, it's a bottomless tub I think, well worth purchasing to keep leathers and boots looking new

Might sound very odd, but get a cheap bottle of vodka, put it in a spray bottle and then spray the kit. Then let it air.

It's an old theatre costume trick.
