Got my Mod2 coming up soon and I’m wondering what to get as my first big bike.

I’ve been having my lessons on a BMW F700

Probably got about £2500 to spend. Don’t want a sports bike. Maybe a Naked or an Adventure Type

Been to a few bike shops but loads don’t like you sitting on bikes unless you talk to a salesman.

There a few dotted about the country try superbike factory. They have a few locations throughout the UK and cover plenty of types of bikes and cc ranges. Then you can get a good feel for a type or manufacturer of bike even if they dont have one at that particular showroom.

Superbike factory is one of the places that get arsey if you try and sit on the bikes without a salesman. Great choice of bike but very pushy.

I’ve been getting quotes on bikes for insurance.

I’ve looked at

Fazer 600

Bandit 600/650

Sv 650

Hornet 600

BMW f700 (because I’ve enjoyed riding it for my lessons)

And randomly because I know a guy selling one locally and I’ve always liked them…….Yamaha XJR1300

The BMW is the most expensive to insure for me. Closely followed by the XJR. But I’m tempted by the XJR. I know it’s not logical.

XJR is a top bike. If you fancy an adventure style bike then I've been really pleasantly surprised by a Versys 650. It's loads of fun to ride and sort of does everything.

It's crazy how much more attention you have riding a bike, you almost need eyes in the back of your head! Best thing to do is make yourself as visible as you can, and try riding in a group with friends if you can it's much more fun, and safer

Great idea, when you get a new one make sure it's a really tight fit because it will loosen up after a short while, also make sure you don't scrimp on it get a good make and spend some decent money on it, at the end of the day it could save your life my preferred make is AGV, but each make will fit people slightly differently and it's personal choice.

If you want a big boke that will last you a while. Try a Sprint ST1050.

VERY good bike. Eady to ride, comfy, fast enough, good range, relatively easy service. Plenty of spares and upgrades.

Well worth a look.

That’s pretty much what I’ve been taught. Also I’m a cyclist so it’s ingrained into me anyway.

Well. Technically my first bike was an Aprillia Rs125 when I was 17, and more recently I’ve been riding a Suzuki VanVan 125 since I passed my CBT last year. Now I’m the proud owner of a 2012 Triumph Tiger XC

Oh did it really I stand corrected I always thought the pre 03 reg ones was 600s and the later was 636.

Still searching for the 04/05 ZX10 widow maker is my next purchase

When I passed a mate just happened to be selling a Triumph Street Triple 675 which I got for mates rates, I still have it and love it. It if that hadn’t been available I was leaning towards the SV650

Done about 500 miles on it now since I picked it up. Absolutely loving it. Spent yesterday giving it a really good clean and a bit of basic maintenance.

I’m into detailing. It’s getting ceramic coated to protect it. I’ve already had the exhaust off it and cleaned and polished that.

Definitely need to work on my core strength and upper body strength now I’m riding a bigger bike. I can feel it for a day or two afterwards now in my shoulders especially.
