"The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450?"

I have heard they are very under powered and not too quick, but thank you

The new 450 is probably better than the outgoing model. If you are looking for quick, then there are plenty of quick bikes about...

End of April I bought a brand new cbr500r...Best thing I ever did as fallen in love with biking again...I've had bigger & more powerful bikes...but not one that handles & grips so well...1000 miles a month...& counting...would seriously recommend for less experienced bikers like myself...

Can't go wrong with honda fireblade for your first bike, you definitely shit yourself, high possibility of dying, and if none of the above happen, the insurance will finish you off

650 Wee Strom’s a great all rounder

MT07’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys, if a bit less versatile

Each to their own. Whatever you decide on, enjoy every mile with it

Wont be a first bike, just down sizing for a lighter bike I own a Kawadaki vn900 classic atm and its a tad heavy for me now, as mentioned the vn 650s is a nice bike but they are as expensive secondhand as new, like the look of th Honda NC 750 manual or the Honda cb500x both look a nice ride

I remember buying my Fireblade 1999. I had it for two weeks getting used to the feel of it. After 2 weeks I said 'right lets see what this can do' F##k me it was like a fighter jet, it just kept pulling and pulling. Shit myself, well nearly. It was the most fun I ever had on a bike over the years I owned it, never finished me off, never got into any trouble with it as I made sure I respected what kind of machine I was riding but boy did it put a smile on my face every time I rode it

Took my sons RR5 out a while back while he was working in the USA, totally agree with "like a fighter jet" 160mph in the blink of eye and still wanting to go. Came to my senses and took it home.

I've got a 2017 CB500X. It's my first bike, after doing the DAS, so a bit of a different perspective than you might have.

I personally find that it's great for what it is. It's not the fastest, but will go at motorway speeds with my 100kg+ self on it, it's very manoeuvrable, and it's quite frugal too.

The downsides might be the lack of character, to an extent, but an aftermarket exhaust might help with that?
