So, if the van only has a camera facing oncoming traffic and you’re above the limit then slow down will you still get done?

Asking for a friend

Most of the vans have cameras on the roof too. So I've heard from a friend

Depends if it has a cctv 360 camera on the top. They can prove it's the same bike that was speeding by the time stamp on the camera and what you're wearing. Depends if they can be bothered to

Vans also have a forward facing camera to record additional details. The cameras a synched for the avoidance any doubt.

I believe, that whilst the cameras have an operational range of over 1km, forces tend only to capture speeds within 400m.

Can anyone confirm?

Becareful of tbe van that parks uo in the Manor royal at Crawley, I have seena police bike parked next to it ona few occasions. The camera might not get you, but the bike will.

It's no longer a photo either, they now use video. You can view it if you wish.

Many traps now use a camera on a pole as well, as the cameras in the back of the van. Some local rural roads are now also fitted with average speed cameras.

As bikes can't be identified from the front, I'm told there's a front facing camera to get the plate when driving away, however, the front facing camera isn't triggered by speed, it's only after the rear facing camera snaps you.

I always thought it was law to be issued in 14 days but I'm sure I checked recently and I'm sure it says you have to be served in 7 days

The road work speed vans only record the speed for data purposes and can't prosecute. But obviously the police ones do.

So you have nothing to worry about if you were doing 60 in an 80 zone

The car in front was doing 60km. So I speeding up to over take.. so I may have been doing over 80km in order to over take in a time.

Fuck that! Just speed at night, as you don't see many camera vans out and about then.

Plenty of uncovered police cars around at night.

Sneaky cops in North Yorkshire use a unmarked kawasaki they ride behind you so you think it's just a rider tagging along so you relax and open up then bang you get caught . I know we should not speed but it wasn't me lol

Just what I said above but more unmarked cars than bikes.

Be even more now with the run up to xmas and new year.

Round my way the speed vans depend on the forward facing camera to snap the plate. If I’m winding it on, see the van in time and it’s ok to do so, I pull in, stop and wait till a vehicle or two pass the van before proceeding. So far so good
