Don't necessarily choose to go out if the weather is particularly bad, but don't put the bike off the road over winter. Some of the crisp winter days are perfect for a ride, especially a bit of off road when the tracks are dry and the grass is white and crispy. Love it.

Black shit builds up around piston & caliper.

Drop the wheel, give the lever 1 squeeze, use brake cleaner and a toothbrush to clean around the pots.

Lube the piston with red rubber grease and push back before refitting the wheel.

My turn now... how the fuck do you keep floating discs free during winter?

It's a pain having to free them off all the time.

A small Allen bolt and nut in the bobbin then turn with a ratchet and Allen end as you spray brake cleaner into the bobbin

"All year bikers , raise your hands "

I'll just nod as we pass if that's OK. I don't wave on my bike!

15k on my SV650 last year, all weather baring snow. Because I didn't want to die!

Won't take my simmer bike out because no abs, traction control or rider modes and 170bhp terrifies me in the rain.

Keep the bikes on the road all year round. Bit of a chore when it’s not nice out, but got to keep them running to keep battery in good condition and refuelled with fresh Petrol.

I say ‘chore’, but I always enjoy when I’m out, even if it’s a short run.

Winter is depressing enough without the thought of not having a bike to ride because they are put in to hibernation.

Oldham or South Shore

Update: After someone scr@p1ng the side of their car right along my exhaust, an inch away from a mangled leg, I have decided to reduce my winter riding to daylight hours only, and only necessary journeys. If I can easily go by public transport, I’ll do that instead.

I never thought I’d do this, as I’ve been an all year-round rider for a few years, now. But, it just doesn’t seem safe, at the moment.
