So the angel GT were a three week lead time so ordered the Michelin road 5s instead

What’s everyone’s views on the new rubbers

3wks! Got mine in two days - no opinion on the Michelin as I like the gt's and haven't as yet had an issue getting them

Road 5 is so last year

Road 6 is the new kid on the block. Both are awesome tyres tho maybe not the best wearing if you are like to "make progress"!

I put on black and round ones. All the cafe talk on tyres don't mean shit if you can't ride to save your life lol. I'm on maxxis at the mo. No problems. Love angels myself. But they don't make me ride any better than any other tyre.

Had road5 trails on my 1250gsa last time, found they were fairly good with decent mileage, now on road 6, better grip, they are purely road based riding and looks like decent mileage so far. Can’t believe how much tyres cost tho.

My stock tyres and my previous GT have all faired well I’m not the slowest of riders I can get a fair bit of wear right on the edges so no problems getting a good few thou out them currently sitting on 4.2k miles of wear in the three months I’ve owned the new bike but a few motorway miles haven’t helped the wear though

Oh and I also got a plug in it the other week although tbh I’ve done 4K on a plug with my last tyre as got the hole day two out the shop

my fazer thou came with a set of road 5`s on it.my last thou had metzelers on it and i can say the roads 5`s are brilliant. good feel and feedback

Well done 4.4K on the current ones but they defo need swapped over just need to find someone with a tyre press or see if the techs at the college will let me go use the one in class

Road 5’s are awesome road tyre! Have put on last 2 bikes (some might dispute the term bike) Honda nc750 (came with Bridgestone battleax and made a difference as night and day) and versys 650 which came with Dunlop’s and were hopelesss in the wet! Being in Northern Ireland a lot of riding in damp/wet conditions (and not in the good sense!!) road 5 excellent stick and with dual compound great wear too!

Also have the versys 650 live Scotland also did a tour of Ireland on the stock tyres

I was very sceptical about Michelin road 5 but all the advanced observers were using them. After a lot of research I went for them. Can honestly say, after swearing by Bridgestone for many many years the road 5 are the best tyres I've ever put on my bikes. I trust them in dry or wet 100%. May I add I don't hang about either

And to add they don't square off as bad as other tyres. A real good compound and last much longer, maybe up to 10k

I've not had the road 5's but a friend has just put the new 6's on her bike and loves em.I had power 5's on mine a brilliant tyre and went with metzeler r9rr's this time and don't have the same confidence in them.it will be power gp's next

Great tyre, they can handle some track use too, for the more road rider "novice" group of course

Tempted to stick some 6's on my KTM 990 SM but soooo expensive and that bike eats rear tyres

Anyhow less of the boring tyre talk lol,

hard to find a poor modern tyre to be honest

I put road 5s on my XR and initially didnt like the feel when going over from the hard compound to the softer edges...once over great but a couple of times i felt a wee change in the grip...maybe better after a few miles tho

Road Pilot trail 5 100% road. we destroyed in nordics!

Great grip but by 50% wear they were rubbish.

Front went flat in middle rear was slick on side wall Back to Dunlop road smarts for my bike.

Two black rubber doughnuts will do. Tyre talk I've put some seriously expensive tryes on the race bikes and with poor suspension setup and incorrect pressures have no feed back at all. This post is a can of worms I wish you all good luck and be confident in what you choose. Rubber side down remember.
