Where’s everyone’s favourite spots on the route for photos etc

Yeah, been doing it every year since being a kid on the back of my Dads GS.

That's a GS1000S BTW not a BMW!

anywhere on the top or the west coast is amazing for photos.

I'll be up at the end of the moth for a week with some Pals.

Apparently it's swimming in speed cameras, all the way along the route, so keep your eyes open boys and girls!

It wasn't last year.

The A9 does have cameras no doubt there but it's only one ninety mile stretch.

They're not all over that stretch either.

We did most of it a couple of years ago and had a great time.

The west coast side is the best scenery but be prepared for a lot of camper vans and car clubs to get past on the narrower roads.

We have to go back again though to do Bealach na Bà, the road to Applecross, as the weather was a bit iffy and L had only passed her test 6 months earlier.

A great experience though.

Oh and skip the A9, the Old Military Road, through the Cairngorms is a great run.

The Pass Of Cattle offets stunning views and Applecross is beautiful, I recommened the coast road to Torridon for its sheer remoteness and scenery.

Another vote for Applecross- the pub does great food as well. The coast road North from Applecross is narrow but amazing views and when clear can be a great run. The wee road to Drumbeg is also a cracker

It's different everytime I seem to visit. Daylight, weather always make it a different experience.

For me, the best roads aren't on the NC500. Travel the inner roads, Ledmore to Lairs, then up by Loch Shin, or to Altnaharra.

The East Coast is less interesting, and no real loss if you skip it.

Is that such an issue?

It's a gazillion miles down to the Dolomites or southern Spain.

The travel may be tedious to get there but the roads and scenery make it worth it.

We split the journey up there and back, taking in some great country like the Yorkshire Dales and Scottish Border country. There's no rush and some great riding.

It’s a known anti clockwise is quieter as recommended route is clockwise. Less camper vans anti-clockwise.

Weather coming good from tomorrow onwards !

Enjoy when you do it.

Only thing to watch with that is that, you'll meet the Camper Vans head-on when they're over the centre line.

It's on my to do list, to take the Old Military road and the Glenelg Ferry over to Skye.

Plockton is a nice wee detour when you're leaving Skye.

Oban to Barra, and island hopping up to Lewis. Stornoway to Ullapool and back down the West coast.

CalMac do an island hopper ticket.

Check price and what you get for the Island Hopper ticket. When I did the islands, it worked out cheaper booking the individual ferries.

Asked them about it and they said the island hopper was to give people an idea of could be done using the ferries, like everything these days combined deals not always the cheapest.
