So how many bikers in here ever acknowledge a moped rider if he/she nods at you flashes you ? I’ve had bikes for 20 years started in a 50cc then 125cc then cbr400 rvf400 zx6r r6 r1 now have a zx6r and a moped for wet weather winter etc when I’m using the moped I find I’m looked down on by other bikers which given my bike history pisses me off

well on a moped you are lower down this could be the reason not wanting to state the obvious

Always wave to anyone passing on bike regardless of size, moped, scooter or sports bike,

I started off on an AP50 at 16, then onto the LC250 at 17, then LC350, 1000 Katana,

and on and on

we all start somewhere, and remember when we are at the racing many who are racing get back and forward from paddocks etc on scooters

respect all.

I Too started with mopeds and 125's, I personally see learners as the bikers of the future. I always nod when I pass.

Always nod whatever you’re riding, if you’ve got two wheels and an engine between your legs you’re in the club, regardless of how big it is!

I’ve had over a hundred bikes and get to ride some amazing historic bikes.

Raced at all levels.

Will nod to nearly everyone. Sometimes even get a nod back from the Harley riders..

There are some riders though where the Scooter/moped is a means to an end and won’t get an acknowledgment from me.

Mostly Deliveroo types and the ubiquitous teen on a beat up scooter in London.

Provided it doesn't look like a ned,...I nod to most scooter riders.

I recall riding my 125 and being pleased as punch getting a nod or wave from a big bike

Definitely nod or wave, they’re out doing the same as me just on a lower capacity bike. I remember getting nods and thumbs up (when a bigger bike overtook me) on my NSR125. It means you’re part of the club, help is available if you break down.

My husband bought our son a moped for his 16th to get back and fore college I wasn’t happy with it but he’s a sensible kid. He used to love it when as he calls them grown up bikers used to nod to him he did start talking about getting a bigger bike for his 18th much to my horror nothing against bikers it’s just a mother thing .Instead he passed his driving test and we got him a little run around he still talks about getting a bigger bike but I told him when he’s 21 he can get what he wants hopefully in 3 years he would have changed his mind...

Actually agree with you, I have two kids 6 & 10 not that keen on them riding either. Been to NADB (National Association of Disabled Bikers) rallies and seen the outcome of accidents. The amount of near misses I’ve had, has also given me second thoughts about carrying on riding.

On the other hand, I’ve had some amazing experiences that I’m glad I had that you wouldn’t get in a steel box on wheels.

Always acknowledge anyone on a two wheeled motor cycle.

There may be a time when they need you or vise versa.

The biker community no mater what they ride are pretty close.

I started on mopeds when i was 16 and always got waved at. Now im 30 with a big boys bike whenever i wave at a moped rider which is all the time, its 50/50 whether i get a wave back...i swear and then wave at next one

Bike, quad, trike or moped...we ride and thats what matters.

I generally notice my self doing this to mopeds with L plates. Bigger mopeds I tend to nod.

I don’t know why or have any explanation.

Unconsci*us (apparently can’t type that word) bias I guess. Might have to try change that.

I rode in spain a bit last year and everyone waves to each other there, moped , bike, cruiser...the lot. Wondered why we nod and they wave...then the penny dropped...other side of the road. Try waving here and you'll prob crash lol

It does with me as well, but it is my job. Sometimes I doubt my sanity after riding and driving past two bike accidents where CPR was being administered, and the friends I lost in motorcycle accidents over the years. it makes me think why I do it. In my trade most bikers die of old age. However, I just can't give it up.

There is a new challenge to the moped, the electric pushbike, boy do they shift.

As for mopeds, I'm off to the West Country on Saturday to pick one up, ideal for nipping to Gregs on to pick up the sausage rolls.

I'll nod and acknowledge any other biker regardless of what they are on

IV stopped to offer help to 16 year old lads on mopeds and riders on bike superbikes and cruisers

IV had plenty of others stop to see if I'm ok too

It don't matter what you ride we all have to start somewhere

I always nod to everyone on two wheels no matter what the bike, cruiser, moped, learner dominos guy or anyone else. If I see a biker stuck on the side of the road I always pull in to help as I know other bikers would do for me. This is what sets us apart from other road users and why I love being a biker

I give the nod to all bikers/moped-ers. Whether I get one back is another matter, I guess some don’t see L-platers as worthy of the nod. But the way I look at it, if I nod and I get one back, happy days. If I don’t, well, that’s their issue.

I ride around london mostly so nobody nods. Found it odd at first being from Leeds where everyone does.

Sometimes when I ride out of london I forget to nod again as I’m not used to friendly people.

I never really knew the scooter/bike nodding etiquette so I normally waited for a scooter to make the first move!
