So the big K's rear is now down to wear bands so its time to replace it.

Whats everyone's tyre preferences,

And if you have had bad set why?

I had a pair of Metzeler tyres on my ZXR750. They were horrible in the wet. Absolutely rock solid.

Used Avon Storm on most my bikes now and really rate them. Great in all conditions and last for ever

I use Bridgestones bt23 s on my bandit.. The bt30 s are a good sports tire...the new metzeler roadtecs are good, and apparently the Michelin power pilots are good wet tyres...but everyone has opinions on tyres... I would read some trye test reviews especially for any older bike like your 750..hope you find something that gives your confidence..

I did get a set sorted for the ZXR.

The original tyres that are specified were Dunlop however they don't make the that particular model anymore.

I contacted Dunlop directly and I have to say they were bloody fantastic. I bought the reccomended set direct from the website and was told if they didn't suit that they would refund me.

They were spot on.

I've always liked the BT30 and they work well on the 996, and you need the softer compound as it so easy to throw about.

The K1200 is a heavy bugger though and it can put the power down.

Michelin Road Pilots are the recommended choice on the forums.

So have ordered a set. Will see how it goes after I get them fitted on Tuesday.

Have got pirelli angel gt 2s on my bandit, brilliant tyres in all weather, had Avon azaro's on it when I bought it 9 years ago and they were absolutely terrible in the dry, let alone the slightest bit of damp.....

I used to use Bridgestones but once I Started observer for IAM I was recommended Michelin Road Pilot. I was very hesitant as I had bad experience many years ago in the wet on Michelin so never used them again. I even emailed Michelin when considering road pilots for reassurance, I did get an email back which did reassure me so went and put them on. We both use them now. The miles you get out of them is incredible, much more than twice and then some the mileage I got from Bridgestone. We can't fault them for sticking to the road and mileage. Wouldn't use anything but Michelin Road Pilots now

Road pilot 5 on zzr14 here as well and I cant recommend them enough for sport touring. As people have said you get great wear and have lots of confidence in them even in the wet. I use, well used before working from home became the norm, the zzr for commuting every day summer and winter and never had a problem with them.

Did contemplate the Michelin Sport Pilots as I’ve got these on my car and they perform very well.

Used to agree but they are so much better now. I even rang Michele to convince me to change to pilots, they did and now onto my 2nd pair. No issues at all wet, dry or when they were running off. And I do push on at times, love a bit of scratching about.

I got a pair of part worn Pirelli Super Dragon Corsa's for my R6, they were the best tyres I ever got.

I had the bike sliding out of most corners, the first time I shit myself. After that it became fun to do.

I was put off Bridgestone when I had my VFR400, the dual compound was awful where the teo met. It used to make the bike twitch as you leaned over.

I was told that was due to being cross ply tyres.
