When you were told to wind your neck in you went off on one and told us all to go and fuck ourselves and you will do what you want.

I don't really care if any of you go out or not.

But think on this I watched a friends funeral on Thursday evening he was a biker but died of this virus (he was also going through his last lot if treatment for cancer)

Now none if this matters the thing I wanted to say is .

At his funeral his wife couldn't sit with is mum his children weren't allowed to go and only 6 people were there.

Now this was the saddest thing I've ever seen .

He would have had a big funeral with loads of his family and friends there under normal circumstances.

This scene will be the normal for all at the moment.

Imagine it's your family attending that funeral and how it is that the family isn't allowed to even hug each other during the service .

I could ride my bike every weekday as I work at a hospital but I don't.

nope I meant what I said ,Wales has some good,great roads it has to be said,but North yorkshire is vast,you could do ten different routes to to any town or village on stunning roads and scenery,touring or scratching can't be beaten.

nope I meant what I said ,Wales has some good,great roads it has to be said,but North yorkshire is vast,you could do ten different routes to to any town or village on stunning roads and scenery,touring or scratching can't be beaten."

I must admit, I've only spent a little time in North Yorkshire and I agree, its bloody lovely there.

No one should be riding as it's not essential travel unless your bike is your only form of transport to/from work etc.

I've spent the last few weeks looking at perfect riding weather and wondering if the twonks who make the rules appreciate

A) Helmets and 70mph do a pretty good job of socially distancing you!

B) Many of us have garaged our bikes for the last 4 or 5 months so they are in need of use to keep them running.

C) less traffic around lets us have a ride out without all the usual twats trying to kill us.

That said, i'm not using mine because IF i am knocked off i could end up occupying a critical care bed, a ventilator and cause more work for several nurses, doctors and the odd surgeon. I am gagging to ride but common sense tells me it's not essential so don't do it.

However, it would be funny to walk into the local bank wearing a balaclava and full face helmet with the visor down knowing that the cashier was probably feeling slightly relieved!

I'm using my bike every day to commute the 5 miles each way to work.

I could use a van but I prefer the bike, no rules saying I can't. It makes me smile and happy to ride a bike

I don't understand all these riders that have no confidence in their ability to ride a bike? They all think they are going to crash and end up in hospital.

Although I realise accidents Can happen unless I'm riding off road or circuit racing I never think I'm going to crash or accidents. It's about observation, being aware, riding within your limits and within the conditions.

If you think you might be involved in any crash or accident go and get some more training or go on the advanced riding course.

Silly remark. Kind of depends what you ride and how you ride it. We all like the thrill of a sweeping bend at 50mph but double that, or treble it and things happen a great deal faster.

Only an idiot thinks he won't come off! "All the gear, all the time". Tyres puncture, animals run out, cars swerve. You are NEVER in full control of your destiny.

Been watching plenty of videos lately of people in shorts and Tea shirts learning why you suit up, most of them got hit out of the blue by the "unexpected", my rule is simple... expect the unexpected!

Generalisations about your own or other's ability.

Tell anyone who's been riding down a country lane at dusk and ended up with a dear jumping out or someone next to an 18 wheeler on the M1 when it had a blowout and lost a tyre.

My rule is simple, expect the unexpected and that includes ending up in hospital. You are not indestructible no matter who you are.

I ride on dry days, suited up and i ride for fun. I don't have to ride, i like to ride. By definition that makes it not essential for me at least.

If you were on your bike when it happened, then training could have made you more aware of the hazards around you. If you were in a car, you would have had a cage to help protect you .... sorry maybe I missed the point ?

If you read my post, I do say "I realise accidents can happen" but people sometimes talk theirselves into such negativity that they are nervous before they start.

There are always accidents which you as a biker couldn't do anything about but if you are worried or frightened by that, should you even be out on the road?

I'm still comuting every day and loving it. Since lock down I've come across 2 deers in the road in the dark and I managed to miss them both. Is that skill, luck or a bit of both.

I did read your post. You are missing the point. Non essential travel means that. Like many bikers i own a car too. With no trips to work "essential" travel is basically shopping. Hard to fit much on a gixxer so i use the car.

My bike is for fun BUT if i "lose it" for WHATEVER reason, i would expect a stay in hospital. I saw an article a while ago about the resources used for recovery of a biker from a bad accident, you might be surprised.

This is not about my ability or confidence on a bike it's about doing the right thing which currently is sitting here looking at it and not riding it, without good reason.

Still get quite a few bikes at the truck stop on a Thursday evening and Sunday morning though.

Lynne and Dave are not associated with the new cafe, do a search on Facebook and the info is on their page. The new cafe is called the Phoenix but they have now been closed down due to locals complaining about bike noise & traffic. They are looking for new premises.
